Kolache Christmas Wreath

Merry Christmas!

I made these kolaches for Christmas morning and they were a big hit. Not only are they really easy to make, but they are so good.

Kolache Christmas Wreath

Ingredients:

1 package Hillshire Farm® Lit’l Smokies® smoked sausages

Canned biscuits (4 pack)

Sliced Cheddar Cheese (or Pepper Jack if you like it more spicy)

2-4 jalapeno peppers- depending on the size

Optional: 2 slices bacon for bow

Instructions:

If making optional bow:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (or whatever temp biscuit label recommends)

2. Lay one slice of bacon on baking sheet and place 1 smoked sausage about 1/3 of the way from each end.

3. Fold end over to meet in the middle.

4. Flip so that seems side is down.

5. Take second slice of bacon, place underneath and fold over center of first piece, between smoked sausages. Secure with a toothpick.

6. Place in oven and allow to cook until bacon is set and crisp.

For Kolaches

1. Wash each pepper and slice in half length-wise. Carefully remove ribs and seeds from each half. Slice each pepper into match-sticks.

2. Slice cheese into 3-4 strips per slice.

3. Place one biscuit on work surface and flatten slightly.

4. Place one strip of cheese in the middle of the biscuit- fold over so it doesn’t hang off if needed. Top with smoke sausage and place one strip of jalapeno beside the smoked sausage.

5. Roll biscuit around ingredients and place on baking sheet, seam side down.

6. Bake in preheated oven 10-15 minutes or until biscuits are fully cooked and golden brown

Assembly:

Place Kolaches side by side around the edge of a round platter or plate.

Remove sausages and toothpick from bacon bow. Place bacon bow at the top of Kolache circle and serve!

Cooking Tips

#1

Remember, y'all, it’s all about the prep. Take away the stress by doing the prep the night or day before.

#2

For best results when you're baking, leave butter and eggs at room temperature overnight.

#3

When chopping herbs, toss a little salt onto the cutting board; it will keep the herbs from flying around.
