Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge

Brian’s Aunt Holly moved back to Baton Rouge this past summer from Portland, Oregon. She invited us and Brian’s sister’s family down for Baton Rouge’s Mardi Gras celebration this year. We had the best time! On Friday, we checked both kids out of school early and headed down for the Krewe of Southdowns parade that night. Holly’s house was right on the parade route, so once we got there we didn’t have to go anywhere. This was Brenna’s first Mardi Gras parade and she loved every minute of it. Holly was gracious enough and let everyone stay at her house that night and we packed it out. In total there were six adults, four kids, three dogs and two cats.

Holly gave each person a goodie bag and these big, red lips were in Brenna's...she loved them!

Brenna was ready for the parade to start.

Even Jackson got into the Mardi Gras spirit!

Brenna caught a few beads at the Friday night parade.

On Saturday, we went downtown for the Krewe of Spanish Town Parade. There were a lot more people at this parade and it was very similar to a New Orleans parade.

After the parade on Saturday, we went to the Men's LSU basketball game against Mississippi State. We were excited to watch Ben Simmons play in person and even more excited when LSU won the game. This was Brenna's first time to visit the LSU campus. She loved seeing the real Mike the Tiger and even enjoyed the basketball game.

We went into the LSU store on campus before the game and Brenna found a few things she wanted, lol.

In all it was a great trip and we're looking forward to going back next year.
